Frustrated by other programming language shortcomings, Guido van Rossum created Python in the mid 1990’s. The name allegedly came from his favorite comedy troupe Monty Python’s Flying Circus.
The language is now used by millions, and today Python is the fastest-growing programming language in terms of active developers, according to the 2019 edition of the annual Stack Overflow Developer Survey (1)(2)
